Doroki by Paga: The SME Platform Built from the Pain Points of Nigerian Business Owners

In a bold move to revolutionize the way Nigerian businesses operate, Paga Group has officially launched Doroki — a cloud-based platform designed to solve the real, everyday challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Unveiled at a media launch event on June 19, 2025, at Radisson Blu, Victoria Island, Doroki is more than just another software tool — it’s the product of deep listening, ground-level research, and a vision to ease the operational pain points that slow down the growth of ambitious Nigerian entrepreneurs.

“We built Doroki by listening to real business owners,” said Arike Okunowo, General Manager of Doroki. “From restaurant owners grappling with recipe consistency to retailers managing stockouts and expirations, we crafted a solution that truly fits their reality.”

🧰 Built for the Business Owner on the Ground

Doroki offers a unified platform where SMEs can manage inventory, payments, customer relationships, sales tracking, and digital storefronts — all in one place.

The system was developed in collaboration with global retail tech provider QueueBuster, but localized for Nigeria’s unique economic and infrastructural landscape.

From retail shops and grocery stores to salons, spas, and restaurants, Doroki delivers sector-specific tools like:

  • Menu and recipe management for food businesses
  • Low-stock alerts and inventory sync for retail
  • Real-time payment reconciliation and flexible payment options (cash, card, USSD, QR, and Paga)
  • Digital storefronts (eStore) created in minutes
  • CRM and loyalty features to build customer retention
  • Offline functionality, crucial in areas with unstable connectivity

“Doroki simplifies operations and helps businesses scale with confidence,” said Tayo Oviosu, Founder and CEO of Paga Group.

📊 Designed for Growth-Focused SMEs

While Doroki will eventually support micro-enterprises, its current rollout targets established SMEs — those with daily transaction values around ₦10,000 and monthly sales exceeding ₦2 million.

“We’re not starting at the very bottom just yet,” Oviosu noted. “We’re focusing on growth-minded entrepreneurs with some operational maturity — those ready to digitize and scale smartly.”

The platform aims to onboard 10,000 businesses within its first year, offering flexible subscription and transaction pricing to accommodate different SME needs.

🔄 Built-In Flexibility, Real-World Functionality

Doroki’s competitive edge lies in its integration capabilities and local relevance. Unlike many foreign POS and ERP tools, Doroki supports:

  • Real-time and offline modes
  • Multi-user access with role-based permissions
  • Custom licensing across multiple devices
  • Financial reporting tools for export and compliance
  • API access for developers to connect Doroki with other business systems

And it’s not just tied to Paga — while Paga is the default payment layer, Doroki is open to syncing with other services.

🌍 More Than a Platform — A Vision

Doroki is now the third core unit under the Paga Group, joining Paga (consumer payments) and Paga Engine (B2B enterprise solutions). The company says this launch is aligned with its mission to empower Africa’s growing middle class and facilitate global trade.

Looking ahead, Doroki also plans to offer SME credit products, addressing a key barrier to business growth — access to capital.

“With Doroki, we’re not just launching software,” Arike Okunowo said. “We’re launching a movement — one where Nigerian SMEs have the tools to grow faster, smarter, and stronger.”

Doroki is available now via the Google Play Store, and more information can be found at www.doroki.com.
